Olde Towne BBQ April 2009
Saturday April 25, 2009 was a beautiful day for the annual Olde Towne Community BBQ. The day was bright, sunny and hot.

The barbecue was expertly cooked by Gerald Uzzell on his huge cooker. A whole pig, ribs, hot dogs and burgers. There was a huge choice of side dishes brought by many community members, potato salad, macaroni salad, cole slaw, macaroni and cheese, fruits, cookies, cookie bars, pies the list goes on. Soda and water was provided by the community.
I believe this years attendance was the largest at least since I moved here in 2005 total topping over 60 as stragglers came at the end. It appeared a good time was enjoyed by all. The youngest in attendance was about 3 month old and the oldest I believe was maybe close to 90 in age. It was a delight to see children playing on the play set that was made for little ones to enjoy. Running about enjoying life as little ones should care free.
The adults were enjoying catching up on their neighbors life events. Some seeing folks they knew from other parts of North Carolina that moved here unknown to them and catching up of their life events.
It was so good to see so many new faces, young and older. This BBQ is the only event that is open to non-members of the community. It helps everyone to see what the $24.00 annual community dues is about. Keeping the mall and park clean. Having a few gatherings for all the Olde Towne members, Community Yard Sale one or two a year(Spring & Fall) there will be one May 16 (this is a fund raising for the community, If you would like to sell anything in our community-wide yard sale, you will be expected to pay 10% of what you take in or $25.00, whichever is less.), Easter, Halloween and Christmas parties for the children. It also includes the Olde Towne Directory published yearly with the names of ALL the communities residents. That is why we ask when a house exchanges hands someone lets us know. That is a considerable amount of activity for $24.00 a year for a household.
If I have missed anything please leave a comment in the comment section. It would be greatly appreciated and updated.
