River Otter in Olde Towne Street Ditch
Yesterday was a bit of excitement in our little community just two house from mine. I was walking a bit in the beautiful warm day we finally received for the first time in days. As I was crossing Brunswick Pl from N Olde Towne a sound and movement came to me from the ditch of the corner house at Brunswick Pl and S Olde Towne where I would be turning to go to my home.To my surprise it was a river otter eating his catch a big turtle. I have never seen one up close and I do mean close. I was so excited I went home and got my camera (no I didn't have it with me as usual) and it was still there when I returned. One of the daughters of the house was watching and I joined in among several others over the course of a couple hours we watched it. This river otter was so at ease with that we were within actual petting range but new better than reach out.
After is finished as much of the turtle as it could get from the shell, it turned in the ditch and swam walked back across Brunswick Pl toward N Olde Towne. It was an amazing site. When my brain started working after being so stunned I took a couple of short movies I will put on this posting. One its drying its wet fur by rolling on the ditch bank and driveway cement. The other is when its leaving showing how it swims and walks the ditch.
