Olde Towne Crier March 2012

A Note from our President
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I am very appreciative to the folks that came out and worked hard on Saturday, park clean-up day. Olde Towne residents will love to visit our local park and see the hard work that has been done.

I would like to ask for donations for the park fund. Maybe hard labor is not your strong point, but adding to the fund will allow us to continue making our park look amazing! Flowers, trees, a walking trail, and benches are just a few things that we are working on furnishing.

I would like to thank Joey from Bug n a Rug for taking care of the fire ants in the park and a huge thank you to Low Country Landscaping for lending us equipment for the sand volleyball court. Lastly, I would like to personally thank our Vice President CT Shaw for everything he does and a huge thank you to anyone else that I may have forgotten.

We have such an amazing committee and we are all looking to make Olde Towne the best place to live. See you at the BBQ!

Next OTCA Meeting
Our April meeting of the OTCA will be held at the annual BBQ on April 21, at 4 pm in our park. The OTCA meeting for May will be held at the home of CT Shaw, 525 Gray Fox, at 7 pm on Wednesday, May 9. We hope you will join us and give us your input.

Children’s Parties

We need a creative and energetic person to organize the children’s parties. It would be fun if a few parents volunteered. The more the merrier. Please let Marty Kosmeh know if you’d like to help.

Lost and Found Pets

Notices regarding missing or found pets can be placed on the notice board. Please contact any officer before posting on the board. Also, contact Stuart Smith to send an email out to all neighbors that he has emails for. We will also post the information on our Facebook page.

Annual BBQ & Meeting

Save the date! April 21st at 4 pm. Please RSVP so we know how much food we will need. This year we are offering Bob Uzzell will be cooking BBQ pork, hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, and even veggie burgers. Read the attached sign up sheet for more info and to RSVP.

We will also be electing officers for the OTCA for the 2012 year. If you are interested in serving, please let Marty Kosmeh know NLT April 10th, so that your name may be added to the ballot.

Jenny Radford was born and raised in Beaufort, North Carolina. After graduating high school Jenny majored in computer science at UNC in Wilmington. She accepted her first job in Raleigh. She was hired as a project engineer, not in the field of computers, but in construction! Jenny married her high school sweetheart, Ryan, while living and working in Raleigh.

Meet A Neighbor

When Jenny was offered a division manager’s position in demolition with a wrecking company in Wilmington it was the perfect chance to relocate to a more centralized area, since Ryan worked as a dredge boat engineer in Charleston. They began house hunting in 2008 and soon purchased their present home on Albemarle. Jenny likes the well-established quiet community of Olde Towne, with its beautiful trees, shrubbery, and flowers. In her spare time Jenny enjoys yard work and taking trips to Charleston or Savannah. She has also been involved with fixing up our park. Jenny now has something else to take up some of her time, since she will be on the ballot to become our association’s new secretary.

Olde Towne BBQ

Saturday – April 21 4:00 p.m.

The Olde Towne Community Association is hosting its Annual BBQ social and meeting on April 21 at 4 p.m. in our beautiful community park. This is a family event for OTCA members. We are inviting non-members to join us to find out what our association is all about.

We will have delicious barbeque pork, hot dogs, hamburgers and chicken. Our very own, Olde Towne Chef, Bob Uzzel has graciously offered to grill for us. Soft drinks, cups, plates and utensils will be provided. We ask attendees to bring one of their best specialties: an hors d'oeuvre, a side dish or a dessert. You may bring some folding chairs. Children may wish to bring a lawn game or toy to play with in the park. Well behaved pets are welcome. The treasurer will sell tickets for a 50/50.

Our annual meeting will be held first and we will elect our new OTCA officers. We are excited about this event and are looking forward to seeing you. Come on out, reunite with old friends and meet some new ones. We hope to see you there.

Please contact us if you need any further information or have questions.
