This meeting is on a Tuesday night! Many of you have told us you cannot attend on Wednesday so we hope you are able to join us this time.

Membership Dues

Truda Brown, the membership committee chairman is working hard to increase our membership base. She may be contacting you by email or telephone. Please respond and let her know if you will be participating in the association and paying your dues. We are hopeful that we can increase our membership in the OTCA this year. We would like to make significant improvements to the park and improve landscaping in the mall. We also use the funds for maintenance of the mall and park, funding the adult socials and children’s parties and publishing the Crier. Dues are nominal, only $24 per year. Please support your association and pay your dues. Additional donations are also welcome! Dues should be put in the OTCA mailbox at the entrance mall or given to any committee member. Please fill out the enclosed information sheet. If you have children, please list their names and ages so we can make be sure to contact you regarding children’s parties. If you include your email address we can email the Crier to you in the future – this saves us money and time!

Children’s Parties

Andrea Keefe has resigned as the children’s party chairman and we are looking for someone to take her place. If you are interested in planning the children’s parties (Easter, Halloween and Christmas), please let Stuart know. A big thank you to Andrea for everything she has done as committee chairman.

Town Elections

The Town Mayor, Chuck Thurlow and commissioners Ennis and McAllister’s terms are due to expire in December 2009. We currently have one Olde Towne representative on the Board of Commissioners (Jack Batson) and we would like to increase that number. Many issues will affect our community, to include the drainage pipe problem, budgets, property taxes, and the redevelopment of downtown Belville. If you have any interest in getting involved and would consider running for election, contact Jack Batson via email:

Crier Ad rates start at $5 for members for a business card size ad. Please contact Clare Heinz 371-2125(w) for more information.

Yard Sale Signs

Tim Byrd from the Town of Belville asked that we include a notice in the Crier regarding yard sales. Yard sales are permitted in Belville and no permit is required, however, failure to remove the yard sale signs after the event is a violation under the public nuisance ordinance. Please make sure you take down all your yard sale signs afterwards to avoid being fined.

Neighborhood Watch

Summer is finally here and many of you will be lucky enough to be leaving on vacation. Please let your neighbors know that you will be away so that they can keep an eye on your property. Make sure you leave lights on (preferably on a timer), and have a neighbor collect your mail, or have it held at the post office. You can also request a drive by from the Sheriff’s department. It’s also a good idea to leave a contact phone number with your neighbor, just in case they need to reach you.
