Olde Towne Crier June 2011
A Word from our President to Olde Towne Residents
THINGS ARE HOT IN OLDE TOWNE! I don't know about you but my garden has died and my grass is not much better. It seems that each time we have a thunderstorm watch we watch it happen somewhere else. It is hot and dry, but I still see my neighbors walking and riding bicycles and everyday there is life in our community. I enjoy meeting my neighbors and finding out what is happening in their lives. I have gotten to know our Olde Towne Officers and they are good people and care about our community. At the last Olde Towne meeting we met at the Belville Town Hall and it was very enjoyable to me. I appreciate all the officers and residents who came out for our meeting. We discussed a number of issues and ideas and it was a positive experience. One of our neighbors had asked me about the resurfacing project and why all the roads were not resurfaced. At the meeting I found out that the NC Department of Transportation made the decision to resurface certain roads and that they have one more section to complete on North Olde Towne Wynd up to the sign that reads STATE MAINTENANCE ENDS. We think it may be completed this summer but that is up to them. We also saw a plan of the new interchange at Village Road and Highway 74. Mayor Jack Batson was a big help in supplying information for us and we appreciate his support.
BE A NEIGHBOR! I know everyone is busy this summer but I hope you will take time to meet any new neighbors that move in around you. When people move to a new area it is nice to have someone reach out and offer a little friendliness. We never know what difficult circumstances people are facing and there are a lot of people today who have been forced to move to other areas. If you do have a new neighbor, we would be glad to give you a Welcome Packet to give them as a nice gift from our Association. Marty and Rhonda of our Welcome Team are working on a nice gift packet, so if you have a new neighbor, give them a call and they would be glad to help you.
Remember our vision for Olde Towne is A Community where people know one another, care for one another, and work together to make a better place to live, so think about how you can be a good neighbor and do something nice for someone. I look forward to meeting more of you in our community. I hope you have a safe and blessed summer.
COMMUNITY CALENDAR
Next Meeting
Our next OTCA meeting will be held at the Belville Town Hall at 7 pm on Tuesday, July 12 and will be hosted by Mayor Jack Batson. Light refreshments will be served. We hope you will join us, meet your new board members, give us your input, and get involved in making Olde Towne a better place to live.
The town hall is located in Waterford. When you enter Waterford, take the first left turn. The Town Hall is located in the 2nd building on the right hand side. Look for the dance studio and the framing shop. To the right of these is a doorway. Go inside and find the elevator on the right hand side. The Town Hall is on the second floor. We’d love to see you there!

PARK AND MALL MAINTENANCE
OTCA MEMBERSHIP
Dues are Now Due
At the last OTCA meeting we approved the budget for 2011-2012. To continue to pay Roger Lee to mow and maintain the entrance mall, and to continue the adult socials and children’s parties, and print and distribute the newsletter and the directory, and make improvements to the park, it is important that we increase membership.
