Vacation with nature! Lots of Deer...

We have told a few community people about our experience with the deer this year. I decided to share with the ones that read the blog what a delight we had with Gods wonderful nature this year. We saw lots of deer, squirrels, birds and groundhogs. The flowers were breath taking. I am usually the one to take photos, but this year I decided to try feeding the deer as I saw others from another unit do for a few days before they left.

We have a timeshare in Virginia we go to each year because we have to pay our fees, so I figure we will use it. It would cost us much more to go someplace else. This is in the mountains with a spactacular view. Wildlife everywhere. Deer in abundance, ground hogs, birds and flowers. There was a unit that the people saw the deer in our back common ground and started feeding them bread crumbs. The deer would come to within about 12 feet. If you tried to get closer they would gingerly back away. I noticed a couple of nights before we were to leave that the other folks already had gone. I told my husband that if I had another week to be there I could have them eating from my hand. So, I started giving the deer some bread that I had made but didn't turn out as well in the mountains as it did at home. I sat on a big rock and threw the crumbs out arms throw and began shortening the distance each time until low and behold one of the deer ate from my hand! My husband had been taking pictures, but the batteries died in my camera just when the deer actually ate from my hand. Here are a few photos we took. Enjoy!

Delightful Painting on Culverts in Park

While were in the park for the annual meeting and BBQ Saturday, April 26, 2008, I decided to take photos of the large white culverts that the children from our Olde Towne Community painted pictures on. They are quite delightful and show quite a bit of imagination in our young residents. Here is a slide show with the photos I took.

Annual Meeting & BBQ

Saturday April 26 we had the annual meeting and BBQ with about 33 adults 3 children attending. Stuart Smith held the annual meeting at the beginning when it appeared that most that were coming had arrived. Presenting a plaque to Matt Knotts for all the things he has done to help improve the park. Making the picnic tables, benches among other things he has so willing done for the community to improve the park. Election of the new officers as follows Denny Kerns(President), Joe Breault(Vice-President), Bobbi Fitzpatrick(Secretary) and Beverly Farrington(Treasurer) for the new term. Then we had our annual BBQ well planned by Pat Ashburner and Joe Breault. Set up was done by Pat Ashburner and Mary Breault. With cooks, Joe Breault and Jonas Williams. There were many in attendence to enjoy the pork, chicken, burger, hot dogs, salads, and many desserts. No one should have gone away hungry, but stuffed beyond our limits.
