Keys Found on Brunswick PL (Northend)

Someone found keys on the (North end) of Brunswick Place on 10/8/08. There are 3 keys, one looks to be a house key with a red center, the other 2 maybe to a lock, one the top is black but that is broken as if driven over, attached to what looks to be something from Wilmington Nissan with phone number 910-392-4300 white with red lettering. They are attached with 2 metal looking key circles. If these are yours please email this blog or call 371-3990 as I have them.

Halloween Party
Please join us for a SPOOK-TACULAR” Olde Towne Community Association Halloween party on Saturday, October 25th. The fun will begin at 5 p.m. at the home of Karl and Andrea Keefe at 735 Brunswick Place. There will be games, prizes, pumpkin painting and lots of yummy treats! Costumes are welcome (and encouraged) for all ages. If you are interested in helping, or if you would like to donate drinks, snacks, cupcakes, etc., please call or email Andrea. Andrea’s phone number is 371-2060 or email apkeefe@bellsouth.net. Please let her know as soon as possible if you plan to attend.
Remember, this is a ‘Members Only’ event, so kids, please make sure your parents or grandparents have paid their dues for 2008!

Neighborhood Watch
Neighborhood watch signs will be posted at the entrances to Olde Towne during the next month. At our recent OTCA meeting, our president, Denny Kern stressed the need for us to report noise problems, barking dogs, firework noise, gunshots, or other unwanted behavior to the Sheriff’s Department and also the Town of Belville. Communication with the Town of Belville can be made via telephone to 371-2456, or through the town website www.townofbelville.com.
We are considering implementing an email alert system for Olde Towne. Email would be used to alert you of any known criminal activity in the neighborhood. We could also use it for lost or found pets, or any other information that needs to be shared within our community. If you are interested, please let Stuart Smith know. Stuart’s email is: ssmith@cape-fear.net. He will add you to his list.

Oyster & Shrimp Event

The annual Oyster Roast will be on November 8, 2009. For those who don’t care for oysters, shrimp and sausage will also be available. A sign up sheet is enclosed with this Crier. Please fill in the information if you plan on attending and drop it in the OTCA mail box in the front entrance mall. We hope to see you there. This is a great opportunity to meet newcomers to the neighborhood, and renew acquaintances with old friends. Please bring a covered dish to share, and also BYOB. See enclosed flyer for further details.

Yard Sale
The OTCA yard sale was a great success. We had a large crowd of bargain hunters through the neighborhood, and I’m sure a lot of you were able to turn some of your unwanted household items and clothing into cash. We are considering holding another yard sale next Spring if there is sufficient community interest.

10 Great Things You May Not Know About
The Olde Towne Community Association (OTCA)
1.
Did you know that our neighborhood is one of the few in our area to offer a completely voluntary Community association?? While other neighborhoods have a mandatory association and require each homeowner to pay up to $180/month, ours remains completely voluntary.
2.
Did you know that our annual membership dues are only $24/year? Through the years, the OTCA has successfully kept dues low, making it possible for every resident to become a member without putting a monthly financial burden on your family.
3.
Do you know how such a small personal contribution can make a difference in our community? We believe in the concept that “if we each give a little, we can ALL benefit a lot”. The success of the association depends greatly on the participation of all of the residents of Olde Towne working together to accomplish a common goal. This begins when you pay your dues and continues through your efforts as a volunteer.
4.
Did you know that the accumulation of annual dues are responsible for paying for such things as:
the construction and maintenance of the Olde Towne sign improvements to the entrance mall
maintenance and routine care of the park
Printing a monthly newsletter and a yearly neighborhood directory to keep residents informed about the community
5.
Did you know that the current members of the association have volunteered their time and efforts to successfully complete the following recent projects?
constructing a new Olde Towne sign at the main entrance
adding/replacing flowers & shrubs in the mall and other common areas to welcome guests and residents
constructing a new play set and picnic area in the park for the use and enjoyment of our children
General Maintenance such as mowing, spraying weeds, picking up pinecones, etc
PLUS, opening the park for “free” dumping of yard debris for residents
6.
Did you know that the association is devoted to helping each of us build lasting relationships as we get to know or neighbors better through the following activities?
Annual Fall Oyster Roast
Holiday Progressive Dinner
Annual Spring BBQ
Olde Towne Community Yard Sale
Children’s Activities: Halloween, Christmas & Easter parties and other activities geared specifically towards the children and grandchildren of our residents
7.
Did you know that the OTCA has partnered with the Brunswick County Sheriffs Department in an effort to keep crime out of our neighborhood? By doing so, we now have a “Neighborhood Watch” program. Neighborhood Watch is based on this concept: When citizens take positive steps to secure their own property and neighbors learn how to report suspicious activity around their homes, burglary and related offenses decrease dramatically.
8.
Did you know that neighborhood improvements benefit every homeowner by increasing your property values? As they say, “you only get one chance to make a good first impression”. Often times, potential home buyers have already made a decision about your home before they ever walk through your front door. This impulsive decision is based solely on the impression that was made when they first entered your neighborhood. Curb appeal begins at the entrance of your neighborhood, not just where your driveway begins.
9.
Do you know what we could accomplish if everyone became involved? We have a long list of improvements that we are ready to move forward with. We need new members! By simply paying your dues you will be helping.
10
Ready to become a member? It’s easy. Place a check for $24 (made payable to OTCA) in an envelope along with your name, address, phone #s & email address, and then simply drop your envelope in the OTCA mailbox at the main entrance.
Thank you for making a difference in our community!
