Park Clean Up & Swings

Many thanks to Bobbi and Doug Fitzpatrick, Kenny Edgar, Donny and Andrew Lovett, and Stuart Smith for helping clean up the park Sept. 10. Thanks to C.T.Shaw for doing an excellent job of mowing the park.

The next cleanup in the park is scheduled for Oct. 8 at 9:00 a.m. to get ready for the Shrimperoo. Please come by and help!

We are working on repairing the swing set in the park – the top bar will be replaced soon.

Meet a Neighbor

Donnie Lovette is our Olde Towne Community Association president. He, his wife Bonita, and their four children moved to Olde Towne six years ago. He said that this area has always been very special to him because in his younger years he spent his summers visiting his grandparents, who lived in Carolina Beach. Donnie began a career in teaching but soon chose to enter the ministry, serving congregations throughout North and South Carolina.

In 2004 Donnie became Senior Pastor at Calvary Baptist Church on 23rd Street in Wilmington. When he and his family decided to go house- hunting Donnie was introduced to the small community of Olde Towne. This was just what the Lovette family was looking for – a nice home on a larger lot which would meet the needs of a growing family, and the fact that our association was not intrusive with a lot of covenants was a bonus. The Calvary Church family helped Donnie and his family to renovate his home on North Olde Towne Wynd and our community welcomed them. Donnie considers it a blessing to part of our wonderful community.

--Bobbi Fitzpatrick will be interviewing other residents during the coming months. She hopes to feature a resident bio each month.
