Flowers in Olde Towne neighborhood

As my husband and I walk through the neighborhood I usually take my camera. I take photos of the beautiful flower we see on our evening walks. So, I hope no one minds seeing me take photos of their beautiful flowers. If you do please let me know and I will pass yours by. This is a slide show of some that I have taken since I began carrying my camera. I know there is a huge section we miss, so please don't feel left out. Send me your photos and I will add them to the collection!

Sadness within our Olde Towne Community

Sadness has hit our community. Everything is done voluntary by any individual who commits. I am not a reporter or journalist. I am a member of this tiny community. This blog is my way of communicating to our little neighborhood.

Recently, we took a week end to build a play set for the community park. It was built by volunteer teens in the Scouts, with supervision by two adults. There was a BBQ provided at lunch time for the workers.

Several newspapers were contacted about the project. Three that I know of came to do a news article. I was there taking photos for the blog. I was interviewed as well as everyone else with great reluctance, as I knew full well that what was being asked would very unlikely never reach print. I was correct with at least one newspaper. We will have to wait and see about the others. Unfortunately, when the news media gets involved, the correct information does not always get printed. The news story should have been only on the project being done with the volunteers involved. But, the article got side tracked to other issues and focused on just a couple of people. Sadly, that seems to be what the media really wants. This was not a political event, but a group of community individuals working to improve a park for our families to enjoy with their little ones. We must remember that we can not control what they will print. What is that saying, hind site it 20-20?

Please don't let this spoil our community spirit! Everyone doesn't get recognized for what they do, volunteering is done of your own free will.

I will be doing another post that will have the photos of the play set being constructed about 88 photos!

Construction of Playset in our Olde Towne Community Park

Saturday, May 31 starting about 9:30 am, 5 scout boys age 15 met at Joe Breault's house to load his pick up truck with the playset that Joe had been preparing and labeling each item in his garage for constructing in our Olde Towne Park for that days project. The five teens were Keith Norris, Matthew Knotts, Javit Williams, Josh Jones and Logan Graffius. Joe Breault and Jonas Williams supervised and helped them.

This group worked hard from about 9:30 am to past 3 pm. They only took a short break for drinks, then Joe started a grill for burger that his wife Mary took over so he could go back and supervise the boys. They stopped long enough to eat the delicious burgers that is one of Joe's specialties then went back to working. The boys had to leave about 3 pm, but Joe and Jonas stayed on until the play set was safe to leave for the night.

Sunday morning Joe was back in the park working, joined by Don & Bev Farrington. The deck of the set was installed then the heat of the day stopped work until evening. Joe went back and did more! He finished Monday. Donald and I went for our evening walk that we take through the park and right-of-way to Olde Towne Estates and finished taking photos. So, here is the photo show for you. Hope you have patience, there are 88 photos!

Here is a link to the album as well. It might be easier to see at you own pace.
