Shootings on Rt. 133
Detective Todd Coring from the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office attended the September OTCA meeting to discuss his progress on the park vandalism and the recent disturbing shootings on Rte. 133. which occurred on the evening of September 4th. Seven vehicles were involved, but fortunately there were no serious injuries. There is an ongoing investigation into the incident. If you have any information, please contact Det. Coring at 253-2540.
Det. Coring indicated one arrest has been made in the park vandalism/arson case and a few more persons of interest are being investigated.

Neighborhood Watch
Your OTCA board has approved the purchase of four neighborhood watch signs that will be posted in the near future. During his visit, Det. Coring again emphasized the need for our community to become proactive to control crime in our neighborhood. If you see anything suspicious, call 911. Tell the operator that you are not calling regarding an emergency situation. He urged us all not to handle a situation ourselves, but rather have the authorities intervene. Increased awareness and patrols through the neighborhood will deter criminal activity. If you will be out of town for a few days, make sure you let your neighbors know. You may also request drive-bys of your home by law enforcement.

Yard Sale is September 27th
Ray Edwards is our new Yard Sale chairman. If you would like to participate in the yard sale, please contact Ray at 620-7742 (this is a corrected number from last month’s Crier). The yard sale is a fundraiser for our community association so we hope you will all participate. OTCA will handle the advertising for this sale and it generally brings a huge crowd of shoppers to homes in our neighborhood. If you would like to participate, you will be expected to pay 10% of what you take in or $25.00, whichever is less. Ray will be collecting payment on the day of the sale.

Halloween Party
Plans are underway for a spooktacular Halloween party this year sponsored by your OTCA. Our new party organizer, Andrea Keefe will host the party at her home. This is a ‘Members Only’ event, so kids, please make sure Mom or Dad have paid their dues for 2008!

Andrea will be contacting our neighbors by phone and flyers in the upcoming weeks with specific details. If anyone is interested in helping or if they would like to donate drinks, snacks, cupcakes, etc,..please call or email her. (Home is 371-2060 or apkeefe@bellsouth.net). She would like to make sure that residents who are Parents OR Grandparents know that they are welcome to attend. Also, we encourage costumes for ALL ages!!

Membership Dues
Dues for the OTCA for 2008 are now due and are only $24. Support your community by joining our association and getting involved. Fill out the enclosed membership information and leave it with your check in the OTCA mailbox or give it to any committee member. The new year started in May 2008.
