A Note from our President
Thank you friends, so far it’s been a wonderful New Year. I am looking forward to seeing all of our wonderful neighbors at our upcoming community events. We have many fresh ideas for future get-together opportunities, so please attend. Our Park is about to go through some wonderful renovations. We would like YOU to join the fun too! Volunteer to plant, build, clean up, or donate - every li
ttle bit helps. You too should feel ownership in our community. Plus, with your $24.00 a year membership in OTCA, we keep our entrance, park and community beautiful. This money also helps us organize community parties and children’s events. Please contribute to this great cause and help us make Olde Towne the best place to live on Earth!
I would like to see some of our Children’s art displayed in our community. Kids, please bring forward your best work! You can make a picture of your family or draw your favorite animal. Bright colors are great! Each month we will feature a new piece of art on the mall board entrance. Parents, bring the artwork to our monthly OTC meetings. We have lots of kids in our neighborhood. Let’s show how proud we are of them!
See you soon,
Mrs. Marty Kosmeh (President)

Next OTCA Meeting

Our next OTCA meeting will be held at the home of Marty Kosmeh, 9981 S Olde Towne Wynd, at 7 pm on Wednesday, February 15. We hope you will join us and give us your input, and get involved in making Olde Towne a better place to live. If you are new to the neighborhood this is a great way to meet some of your neighbors, and make some new friends.

Children’s Easter Party

Progressive Dinner
Ann & Kenny Edgar and Marty Kosmeh were gracious hosts of the Olde Towne Progressive Dinner, held on January 7th.
Our thanks for their hospitality and great food. We spent a lovely evening visiting with our neighbors and hearing stories about our community.
The Progressive Dinner is traditionally held in December each year. We hope to revive this tradition and help this event grow in participation every year. Thanks to everyone that attended this event.

Meet a Neighbor - Carolyn Ferguson

Carolyn Ferguson is a native North Carolinian, born just down the road in Bolivia. She and her three sisters and one brother were bussed to Southport to attend school. After graduation Carolyn migrated to New York where she spent the next ten years working for New York Telephone. The phone company transferred Carolyn to Inglewood, California where she worked evenings or nights until she retired from Pacific Bell. By that time she had accrued a total of 31 years in communication. Working later shifts offered Carolyn the opportunity to attend daytime classes where she obtained a Travel Agent degree. As part of her education it was necessary for her to travel to various destinations around the world, such as Russia, New Zealand, Italy, Australia, and Hawaii to name a few. She also took cruises – the one on the Mediterranean was a favorite.

As Carolyn’s parents were getting on in years she knew it would only be a matter of time before she had
to return to her childhood home to care for them. Then, one year while vacationing in N.C. Carolyn stayed with a good friend on Southampton. She happened to pass by a house for sale on Brunswick , and she thought to herself, “That’s going to be mine,” and sure enough, before she returned to California she had bought a house! It was in California that Carolyn had met her husband, a retiree from Pan Am Airlines, so after buying the house in Olde Towne they moved here.

Carolyn is thankful that her whole family lives within the state so it’s fun to get together. She attends church in Wilmington and is an elder at the Chestnut Presbyterian Church. She loves jazz and is a member of the Cape Fear Jazz Society. Carolyn keeps busy with two businesses – the Almost Perfect Consignment Shop near the government complex in Bolivia and she is a Mary Kay sales director.
Since she never had the chance to visit Paris earlier in her life, Carolyn’s biggest wish is that she could make that trip this year.

--Bobbi Fitzpatrick will be interviewing other residents during the coming months. She hopes to feature a resident bio each month.
