Olde Towne Crier August 2011
A Word from our President to Olde Towne Residents
Dear Neighbors,
What a blessing it is to live in a safe and secure neighborhood. I was talking to a person at church who had been a police officer in New York before coming to Wilmington. The stories I heard made me very glad I live in this area. I know there are problems everywhere you go, but we have been sheltered from the high crime that is found in so many places. We are in a community where neighbors can take evening strolls without fear of being attacked. At Halloween our streets are filled with children playing trick or treat; that speaks well of our neighborhood. I have met some of our people and I am blessed to have neighbors such as you. I enjoy seeing our leaders and residents at the Community meetings we have and the outings in the park. I was reading a Bible verse that said, "Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brothers to dwell together in unity!" (Psalm 133:1). That's a true statement. When there is fighting among family or neighbors or any people in a relationship it is very unpleasant. But when people get along with one another everything seems to be better. We are living in a day of great unrest. People are under a lot of pressure and that is leading to a great deal of anger in our nation. All you have to do is turn on a radio talk show and hear the frustration in the voices of people. If we are not careful, that frustration can cause harm to our families and our other relationships. It will cause our attitudes to deteriorate so that we cannot see any good at all; we will be negative about everything. Perhaps you know someone who is so frustrated that it has affected every area of their life. There is another verse I like in the Bible; Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. (Gal 6.2).
I want to encourage you to help someone. Do something nice for someone. Be a good neighbor. Be considerate of others. If you are frustrated, talk to someone. Go to church and worship God and try to forget about your problems for an hour or so. Pray for someone else. Think about the blessing you have. Negative thinking leads to more negative thinking. Try to see something good today and it will bless you and others around you.
Keep looking in the Crier for the upcoming events. Our excellent leaders are working on some projects to make our neighborhood even better. I look forward to meeting more of you.

COYOTES
We have heard a couple of reports of coyotes being seen in our neighborhood. Coyotes are often attracted to pet food, and prey on small animals. Items like garbage, pet food, and sometimes birds and squirrel feeders will attract coyotes into your backyard. It is rare for coyotes to attack humans, but they have been known to prey on cats and small dogs. Please protect your pets and let us know if you see any coyotes in Olde Towne.
COMMUNITY CALENDAR
Our next OTCA meeting will be held at the home of Bobbi Fitzpatrick, 10159 S. Olde Towne Wynd, at 7 pm on Tuesday, September 13. We hope you will join us and give us your input, and get involved in making Olde Towne a better place to live. OLDE TOWNE BUSINESS OWNER & RESIDENTS SOCIAL EVENT
The Olde Towne Community Association is planning a social event to bring OUR residents and OUR business owners together. This is an opportunity for the residents who live in Olde Towne, who own or represent a business to meet for a social gathering with other business owners and interested residents. We have many long-time residents and new residents moving in that may not know about your business or services.
Please take this invitation as an opportunity to introduce yourself and your business to the residents and other professionals in our Olde Towne Community. You are welcome to set up a small display table, bring samples, and distribute business cards, flyers, and coupons. We are hoping to hold our event in late September. Clare & Robert Heinz will hold the social at their home, located at 10010 South Olde Towne Wynd. Light refreshments will be served.
We would like to get a list of all Business Owners who plan on attending the event so we may contact you with further details. Forward your information; name, business name, email and phone number to Johnkosmeh@gmail.com) or clare@aspecialgift.com or call Clare Heinz at
910-233-3364.
We look forward to building a wonderful community atmosphere for this great community we live in. We look forward to seeing and meeting you all there.
