We hope to see you there!

Our meetings are very informal! Please join us and participate in our efforts to improve our community and life in Olde Towne.

Annual BBQ/Meeting

The annual meeting and BBQ was held on April 25th. We were blessed with wonderful weather, and spent the late afternoon and early evening catching up on the news with our friends and neighbors. We all live such busy lives, it was good to take a few hours to enjoy the company of Olde Towners. We welcomed some new members to our community, and ate a lot of delicious food. If you were not able to attend, you missed some of the best BBQ that was ever made. Gerald Uzzell traveled down from Goldsboro and brought along his huge BBQ grill which he cooked on from 5 a.m. that morning. Pat Ashburner organized the whole event and had the tables looking great. If you would like to read about the BBQ and see some photographs taken by Bev Farrington, please visit her blog oldetownenc28451.blogspot.com

Our new president Stuart Smith thanked out-going officers Denny Kern and Bev. Farrington for their service on the OTCA board. Many others were thanked for their contributions to the community during the past year. Bobbi Fitzpatrick was elected as Vice President, Truda Brown as Secretary and Carolyn Ferguson as Treasurer.

Spring Yard Sale

Carolyn Ferguson, Truda Brown and Bobbi Fitzpatrick have volunteered to co-chair the spring yard sale that will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2009, from 7 until noon. Please help these ladies out by letting them know if you will be participating. If you live on Olde Towne North (from the main entrance up to 9967 and 9970), Southampton Place, and Windsor Place, please contact Carolyn Ferguson at 371-6648. If you live on Olde Towne North (from 9957 and 9960 to 9853 and 9854), Kingsworth Lane, Gray Fox Ct, Squire Ct., and Brunswick Place (OT North to OT South) please contact Truda Brown at 383-2221). If you live on Olde Towne South from the main entrance to the cul-de-sac, Albemarle Place , Brunswick Place (OT South to River Road) and River Road please contact Bobbi Fitzpatrick at 371-0836.

The yard sale is a fundraiser for our community, so please participate. OTCA will handle all the advertising for this event which usually brings quite a number of shoppers to our neighborhood.

If you would like to sell anything in our community-wide yard sale, you will be expected to pay 10% of what you take in or $25.00, whichever is less. Whichever co-chairman is responsible for your area will be contacting you prior to the sale to provide a payment envelope for you to place your money in. The envelope will be picked up later that day.

Please make sure you have plenty of change available for the shoppers and some bags (used grocery bags are fine) to make it easy for them to carry all their purchases. If you can put prices on things it’s also helpful.

Firecrackers

It appears we have a serious problem in the community with regard to firecrackers being set off on a continual basis almost every evening. Please be considerate of your neighbors, those with young children, or perhaps an elderly neighbor that may be sick, or frightened by the noise. The firecrackers may be a source of enjoyment for you, but an annoyance to those around you that also have to listen to the noise. If you do hear firecrackers, please notify the sheriff’s department (call 911).

Dog Poop

It seems like every community has a problem with this – some inconsiderate people walk their dogs, let them do their business on a neighbors yard, and then don’t pick it up. The stinky little land mines are unsightly, can introduce parasites and bacteria into our drinking water and E. coli and roundworms which can be transmitted to humans. The poop also encourages other dogs to go in the same place. Anyone who has stepped in it knows how unpleasant it can be. Please … take along a plastic bag, scoop the poop and put it in the trash!

Welcome Newcomers

If you have just moved to Olde Towne, Jennifer Ferzola would love to welcome you to our community and help you get settled in. She has a wealth of information about our association and the local area. Jenn’s number is 914-263-3930
